Material List Window

Materials are the physical materials dispensed with a lab order and are often expensive and need to be carefully measured and controlled. These are tracked within the lab order with both the amount used and the amount returned being recorded.

Tip: Material codes can be used to add extra costs to the lab that are not necessarily materials. For

example, a material code called Labor could be used to track the labor costs for the lab.

The Material List window allows you to search for and manage material codes.

Field Description
Category

A drop-down list that contains the categories configured in the Material Categories window and allows you to filter search results based on category.

Tip: The All Categories entry displays all results regardless of category, and the blank entry displays only results with no set category.

Criteria

A text field that is used to enter your search criteria.

Tip: You can enter the first few characters of the word, or enter an underscore (_) to return all results.

Search On

A drop-down list that indicates the field to search on:

  • Material
  • Category
Task Procedure
Search for Materials
  1. Use the Criteria field and the Category and Search On drop-down lists to set the search parameters.
  2. Click the Search For Data () icon and review the results.

    3. Note: If your search has more than 100 results, a prompt displays. Click Yes to continue your search or click No to stop and change your criteria to narrow the results list.

Add Materials
  1. Click the Create a new Record () icon to display the Material window.
  2. Complete the fields as necessary and click OK.
Edit Materials
  1. Search for and select a listed entry.
  2. Click the Edit Record () icon to display the Material window.
  3. Make any necessary changes and click OK.

    4. Tip: You can also double-click a listed entry to display the Material window.

Delete Materials
  1. Search for and select a listed entry.
  2. Click the Delete Record () icon.
  3. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.
Preview / Print Report
  1. (Optional) To preview the Materials report, click the Preview Report () icon.
  2. To print the Materials report, click the Print Report () icon.

    3. Note: The Materials report uses the Material.rpt file.

Material Window

(Maintenance > Lab Tracking > Material List)

The Material window allows you to specify a material name, as well as category and unit information. It displays when you open the Material List window and click the Add a new Record () icon or select a listed drug and click the Edit Record () icon.

Field Description
Material

A text field that indicates the name of the material.
Category (optional)

A text field that indicates the category for this material, if applicable.

The ellipsis is used to display the Material Categories window and select a category.
Unit desc.

A text field that indicates the units used to measure this material.

The ellipsis is used to display the Material Units window and select a unit.
Cost per unit

Note: This field is only enabled if the Unit desc. field is populated.

A text field that indicates the cost associated with each unit of this material.
Task Procedure
Add Materials
  1. Complete the fields as necessary and click OK.

Edit Materials

  1. Make any necessary changes and click OK.

Material Categories Window

(Maintenance > Lab Tracking > Material List > Material)

The Material Categories window allows you to specify categories used to group materials. It displays when you open the Material window and click the Category (optional) ellipsis.

Category

The name of the category.
Task Procedure
Add Categories
  1. Click the Clear Data () icon.
  2. Complete the Category field and click the Add a new Record () icon.
Edit Categories
  1. Select a listed entry.
  2. Make any necessary changes and click the Modify Record () icon.
Delete Categories
  1. Select a listed entry and click the Delete Record () icon.
  2. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the deletion.

    3. Note: Categories that have been added to materials cannot be deleted.
